Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
Grades encourage students to learn.
Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

In my opinion grades alone do not encourage students to study but the effects which good grades are connected to.

First of all grades are necessary in our modern society because the most important thing nowadays is profit.
Therefore grades are used to categorize students and to make it easier for companies to rate and get a picture of them.
So a student with good grades usually has access to the best jobs and to the best income.

So as good grades are connected to wealth and good social position students are studying to achieve these goals.

But there are also negative effects caused by marks.

First of all I think that marks should be just used for children with at least 8 years of age otherwise the child is not able to understand this rating system and probably will lose the interest in learning. In my opinion the best way to rate youngsters are motivation letters which points out in which subject the student hast to invest more interest.

Second marks keeping students always under pressure to study more and more in order to achieve good marks, which are probably the reason for burnout syndromes at high schools and universities.

So summarizing all the mentioned facts I would say that marks forcing students to learn because nowadays otherwise it is nearly impossible to get a well paid job.

Not bad, but I'm sure you can do a lot better than this. Remember, I want your best work, not just another essay. Review carefully.
