Hi,
If you wanted to use 'both', you would have to rewrite the sentence as follows:
The importance of protecting rainforests from human invasion is increasingly realized by both developing and developed countries.

Thanks~ :) But is there any difference between ''both developing and developed countries realized....'' and ''developing and developed countries both realized....'' ? Is the latter wrong? |

H,
The point is that in this test the word you choose has to come at the end of the sentence and 'both' doesn't work in that position in that sentence. The sentence you have offered is different again and 'both' in your sentence works.
