What is your approach to problem-solving, and how does it work for you? #1 (permalink) Fri Nov 12, 2010 19:26 pm   What is your approach to problem-solving, and how does it work for you?

Hello!
Could you check it please.
Thanks for advance.

What is your approach to problem-solving, and how does it work for you?
Use specific details to support your response.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am a student, and during my study,
I was faced so many problems, and I think I worked
out some approaches to problem-solving, such as restate a problem and forget
about until for sometime.

In my opinion all problems have a way to solve them, but sometimes it is hard
to find it. For example when it is difficult for me to solve a problem with
first attempt, I usually try to restate a problem, try to overthink it, I call
it "to have a fresh look". I try to find another way to solve a problem. In many
cases it really helps me. For instance, in our quantum chemistry tasks
somethimes a solution becomes apparent when you just translate task from one
coordinat system to another: from Cartesian system to spheric system.

Secondly I am convinced that having a break sometimes
can also help in handling difficult situation. It is the second way for solving
problems, which I worked out during a number of difficult situation. What do
I mean when I say "to have a break"? During this break, it can be a long break,
if it needs, I usually try to completely forget a problem. I usually playing
football, or computer games in order to relax. Afterwards I strive to sovle
problem again. For example I usually get a lot of problems in my
computer programming class. And, first of all, I try to find more general way,
more trivial. But our professor ususally gives us non-trivial tasks, of course
tasks like these have non-trivial solutions appropriately. But after a break I
eventually can solve even more difficult problems than these.

In order to summarize my ideas I would like to say that I found ways of
handling difficult situations which are more convinient for me, but I am sure
that for everybody should find his or her own ways, in order to do their best
in problem-solving.

Not bad Dave, but could have been better.
