Olympic Games mascot?

I am currently working on a teaching project, and I know that this is maybe a very basic question, but for someone who is not a native speaker (as me!), poses some doubts.

I am trying to find the name that in English is given to the pets that work as symbols in any Olympics Games (Cobi in Barcelona's 1992 Olympic Games. for example)
