Please i got stuck with this Question please help me. (1) when did the incidents_______? a Occurred b Occur c Occurs d Occurring I got stuck and i am confused i must i am thinking of choosing option (a or b). Please help me.
My second question is that what is the rule that govern did do and does and which one is singular which is plural. Thanks
Hi,
You would have to use 'occur' because the interrogative past simple is 'did' + the infinitive of the main verb. When you use 'do' in the question/interrogative form you are using the first and second person singular and the first and third person plural. 'Does' is used with the third person singular. In the past form of course 'did' is used for all persons as:
Do I/you/we/they take the train?
Does he take the train?
Did I/you/he/ we/ they take the train?

When did the incidents occur? (when did they take place?)
'did do' is very infrequently used, and then only for emphasis. Both are singular and plural, however 'does ' is present tense, 'did' is past tense. _________________ Cheers m' dears! |
