Too many adverbs? Tue Feb 28, 2006 12:58 pm  Too many adverbs?

Hi, I have found this sentence in the company brochure of a language school:

Although the [company name] has grown considerably since opening, it is happily still a relatively small school with a famously friendly touch.

Now, I have counted 5 adverbs in this sentence and I think that's too many. It's difficult to understand the meaning of the sentence, especially if English is not your first language. What is your opinion on this?
Nicole

Too many adverbs? Tue Feb 28, 2006 14:26 pm  Too many adverbs?

I don't think it's so much the number of adverbs, but the presence of so many ending in -ly. The sentence sounds like "ly ly ly ly ly ly..." However, I don't find it hard to understand. Let's see what other native speakers think.
