Hi,

'Turning' is usually used when we refer to junctions of roads as here. 'Turn' has many meanings and is often limited to small movements like turn of a page/ turn of the head.

Hello Alan,
That may be true in Britain, but it is definitely not the case in the United States. Helen's answer (turn) would be completely natural and correct here in the US. In fact, if a non-native speaker of English were to use "turning" rather than "turn" here in the US, I imagine people would see it as being a learner mistake!

Thus, you really ought to change this test so that it also allows "turn" as a correct answer. To continue telling learners that the use of "turn" is incorrect in such a context would be inexcusable -- not to mention extremely misleading. ;)

Life was so much simpler before you began to learn about the differences between BE and AmE, wasn't it?

The date of the post is irrelevant! At least we know now that both variants happen to be.
