Young people should take several different kinds of jobs before they decide which career to take in the long term.
Young people should take several different kinds of jobs before they decide which career to take for the long term.
Nowadays, job-hopping has became a social phenomenon brought about by urbanization. More and more young people choose to take several different kinds of jobs after graduation, rather than have a lifelong career as the prior generation. Personally, I support this statement and there are several benefits I’d like to point out.
First, working in different kinds of companies helps to develop ones personal ability. Young people will experience more personal growth from changing jobs frequently than staying in one job for extended periods of time. For instance, taking several different kinds of jobs helps one to learn how to adapt himself quickly to the new environment. Communicating with new workmates assists one in improving his social skills. Undertaking different positions facilitates one to broaden mind and horizon.
Second, by changing different jobs, young people are expected to be provided with a lot of chances to make new friends and enlarge their social circle. Nowadays, a wide personal network is one of the important keys to becoming successful. For example, an advertiser who used to work as an editor has more chances to get a vacancy in the original newspaper office with the help of his old workmates. Also, sharing experiences with friends of different occupations helps one to explore more innovative ideas and rare opportunities.
What’s more, switching jobs helps us explore professions that we are really interested in. At the beginning of one's career, it is nearly impossible to find something right without trying a bunch of options. For example, before Walt Disney set up his cartoon studio in Hollywood, he delivered newspapers, drove an ambulance for Red Cross and created ads for movie theatres for a living. After so many job switches, Walt found that he would like to make cartoon films for his lifelong career.
In sum, young people should change different jobs before they settle down and make the perfect employment choice. ...................................................................................................................... Well written Alyssa.
