The reading passage discusses that there may be life existing on planets other than Earth and the greatest possibility is on Mars. However, the listening passage opposes it as follows:
First, the author of the reading passage alleges that methane gas exists on Mars. This gas comes from dead plants and animal matter, so this suggests the possibility of life on Mars. However, the lecturer puts forth that the methane gas doesn’t come only from those, and it has other sources too. On Mars, it comes from volcanoes. Scientists have proven that the volcanoes on Mars haven’t ceased erupting yet and it is evidence of methane on Mars.
Second, the written article claims that a meteorite that has been found recently came from Mars and this meteorite demonstrates the traces of some fossils. Researchers also compared the meteorite to a Martian meteorite which are similar to each other. There is signs of bacteria. However, the speaker says that no one knows where the meteorite came from and it could actually be from Earth.
At last, the reading passage says, it is known that hydrogen exists on Mars, and it is the basic building block of life, however it is in a frozen state. Additionally, according to the probes about Mars, water has been found which may be beneath the surface of the ice. However, the listening passage opposes it by saying that the water is all in a frozen form and life can’t exist in or on frozen surfaces. Moreover, it is not verified that there is water below the surface of ice and if it is, it can take a lot of time to observe. ...................................................................................................................... Not bad Elmir, but not good either.
