resolutions with will and going to #1 (permalink) Mon Nov 29, 2010 11:28 am   resolutions with will and going to

Hi, I have a question concerning "going to" and "will", could you please help me?

In my students´ book I have an exercise on "good resolutions" and the grammar practised is "going to "..."I am not going to argue with my sister any more." etc.

however, I am confused, I feel like "will" in this case because it is a kind of promise, which according the definitions uses "will"...I don´t understand the logic in this case...

thank you

Hi,

'Going to' often suggests intention.

Have a look at this: http://www.english-test.net/lessons/20/index.html
