That's a rather interesting definition Ben. One which definitely needs further investigation, I'd say! I hope you don't mind me moving this to a more appropriate forum so that it will be seen by those who can do something about it. _________________ Cheers m' dears! |

Please bear in mind that the word 'number' is also the comparative form of the adjective 'numb' so the definition does make sense.

 | 20 Listened | Hi,
Note the difference in pronunciation:
Number one.
Numb - number - numbest - where 'numb' as an adjective suggests 'without feeling/sensation'.

How many other comparative forms, rather than root forms, are included? Looking at the question, surely 'numb' rather than 'number' should be the correct answer? The question doesn't mention anything about it being in comparison to a lesser feeling of numbness. _________________ Cheers m' dears! |

I agree with you, Bev.
If the intent here is to test vocabulary which is in comparative form, then surely the definition should also be worded as a comparative. Otherwise, this test simply seems like a mean-spirited trick question -- i.e. intended primarily to lead a test taker in the wrong direction.

I see what Amy, Bev and Ben are talking about -- we'll change this question with the site overhaul.
