Dear Kitos, Thanks for your help in advance!!!
Topic:Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: People should buy things made in their own country, even though these things are more expensive than things that are made somewhere else.
Views differ greatly when it comes to the statement that people should buy things made in their own country, no matter whether their prices are high or low. Some people insist that we should support our own country’s industry under any circumstance. However, I think buying relatively expensive things that are made in our own country is not a great idea. Following are some reasons to support my idea.
In the first place, the resources should be allocated properly. For example, clothes made in my country are more expensive than those that are made somewhere else due to my country’s business environment not being suitable for developing the cloth industry. Labour costs in my country are too expensive for a labour intensive clothing industry. As a result, we should support the countries which can provide low-paid labourers to develop labour intensive industries. IN this way, the enterprises can maximise their profits and we can benefit from it.
In the second place, the whole world is just like a global village, in that people in every country should cooperate with each other. In my opinion, every country should focus on their own strengths and not try to do something that they are not familiar with. For instance, nowadays, Taiwan and Japan focus on developing new technology and China is in charge of producing. I think it is a great cooperation model.
Last but not least, we should give the developing countries more opportunities. If they can produce cheaper merchandises with the same quality, people in the developed countries should help them. By buying their products, we may help them to increase their average payroll and we can save our money at the same time. It is benefit to both countries.
In conclusion, I think the resources should be allocated properly. In addition, the countries should cooperate with each other instead of competing. Moreover, we should give the developing countries more opportunities to develop their business activities. As a result, I believe that it is not necessary for people to buy things made in their own country even though the prices are higher. ............................................................................................................................. A surprisingly good essay Judy. Well done.
