Why do you want to improve your English? #361 (permalink) Sun May 31, 2009 10:23 am   Why do you want to improve your English?

Hi Torsten,

Well I want to improve my English for some reasons. First, because I need this in my job as an ALT (assistant language teacher). Secondly, I do believe that English is the door to the world to explore every opportunities. Lastly, being the recognized international language English also helps us share our ideas and opinions to the world. We can listen and understand other people and be heard and understood as well. Thank you very much for your help. Please don't hesitate to correct any mistakes that you can see. I'll appreciate it because that will be also a learning process. Thanks.

Well, there are some reasons why I want to improve my English. First, it's my Job's requirement, my work is in an international company and have to communicate with collegues native and foreign through email in English at most times. Better English better communication and can also save time and energy, it's bad when you offen make a misunderstanding. Better English would surely benefit my career. The second, I think master a foreign language is really cool, especially English is becoming more and more common. When at school I am jealous of the guys who can speak & write smoothly, but I didn't learn English very well, what a pity. As for me in work now, I'd like to refresher this leason.
The things can help me learn english better is watching/listening english movies, read books and using the language as more as possible.
So, this is all my thought now. Thank you for reading. See you later.

I have many reasons to learn English. I like an opportunity of knowing English, I like talking in English, I like communicating with foreigners, I like to be a part of multinational global English community, it's very exciting to realize that you can explore another culture. The language is a wonderful tool given by God and when this tool is universal it's fascinating. You are equal but you are not just the same. From now when you possess the knowledge of English word you can share your uniqueness with the whole World. Isn't it wonderful? I think it's main goal why I am studying English.

Hello Torsten,

Engilish is my native tongue, however, I have forgotten my basic english construction rules and therefore am not able to write as good as I would like. I spent many years performing more mathematical type jobs and as a result my grammer deteriorated.

Additionally, I would like to help my son but, I can't help him with what I don't completely understand myself.

Hi, I totally understand you. I feel my english is not so good, I never passed english at school and I think that's why I feel so negative about myself. At school I feel I didn' t learn anything after sitting my exams, and failing. I feel I really need help with my english and understanding people. I have difficulty in understanding complicated words and using them, sometimes it just doesn't make sense when I talk. I feel that I can't speak up because I'm scared I'll probably get wrong, and so I just don't say anything, eg: having a conversation with someone, or speaking out to the public or in a group etc.. Please help me, I really need to improve my english.

Thank you

Nice to meet you! :D
I come from Vietnam and i'm a student. In future, my job 'll request a lot of English, so i need to improve my second language to meet the demand. On the other hand, English give me a opportunity to travel abroad and to understand the culture of British. In fact, it 's so different from our culture, for example, when we get into a lift, ladies come first  pets come second and...genltemen come last! (is that true? ). In my opinion, those are main reasons make me come to English!
And which ways can I improve my English? to tell you the truth...I don't know! :D (i don't joke!) I learn when I free, I read when I like, I write when I'm interest and I listen when I'm...sleepy :) :( It's not easy to study English! I get it everyday but every day I have many things to get. In addition, Practice is a problem, I have a little time to practise, I write but no one help me to find my mistakes, I speak but no one said "you're wrong"_I speak as what i like!
This time when I end my message. I hope you'll help me with my English!
I look forward to getting your reply as soon as possible

Hello,

First of all, I'd like to thank you for your good lessons. They help me very much.
I'd like to improve my english because it is an international language, it's wellknown, and it's imperatif for work.
Nowadays, in my country the english is required in order to find a good job.
My main difficulty is ''speaking''. I'm not confident enough to speak it.
As you said we are afraid to make mistakes.

Thanks
