Why do you want to improve your English?

I am student collage.I am studying English language.I want to improve my English because I want to get a good job and work in a big company.I live in libya and my county is developing very fast .NOW the most people use english in thier life.so I want speak english very well.I want to know about another cultures and english language is only way to me to know about them.I am listening to rock and romantic music and watching tv on BBC >SO I connect with this fourm to improve my english and make friends

I love this language.
I don't like when something has a form of obligation. I'm from Baku. It's a bridge between East and West.During centuries many countries wanted to occupy our land and most of them were successful. Persians, Russians, and of course Azeri turks ruled here. And every time my people learned new languages. If you heard about Leyli and Medjnun, the greatest love story of East, written in Persian language, you would be certain that it should be written by Persian writer. But it's not true, Nizami Genjevi, the author is Turk! There are many examples like this. We are independent since 1993. But we were ruled by USSR 70 years till 1993. Now in Baku everybody speaks Russian, even some families speak Russian better than Azeri Turkish. Nowdays there is influence of "West " to our country because of huge oil resources. And everybody learns English here. You can't get a good job without fluency in 3 languages!! This is a fact.
But good job is not the only reason for me. I'd like to understand Hollywood movies , I'd like to read literature from originals, to understand most popular TV programs, news, to understand the world, nations as English is dominating language today.
The best way of learning is environment. When you have friends and when you communicate with them in a daily basis, you see good results. I have this chance at work.

I want to improve my english because I need to speak fluently. I'd like to watch an american movie and understand completly without problems. Or read the news in BBC, talk with a japanese girl, to meet people around the world. All of these are possible only in with english. English is important to me. With english i can become another person. A knowledge person.

I am doing very well with this course, until now I have improve my grammar, and I am learning a lot. My big problem is speaking, I need some tecniques that help me with it, sometimes I don't feel free talking because I think about my mistakes.

How many languages do you speak? I speak 2 languages, Spanish and English.
Where do you work? I work for an NGO that works for women rigths, specially reproductive rigths.
What do you do? I Asist the director.
What do you like most about your job? What I love the most is that I have to deal with all the agencies that sponsor us, and because am in touch with different people all over the world.
Why do you want to practise and improve your English? Because I have to communicate with people from other countries that speak English
How often does your English class take place? Four time a week.
What does your spouse say when you get home late? Sometimes he is worry, and other time he is mad becouse I did not call to tell him.

Good morning, Mr Torsten.
You asked me why I am learning English. I think because I find it's important and useful to my life and my work. As you know, nowadays we receive the information and knowledge about life and science and technologies,... all over the world from many communications such as: television, internet, radio, magazine. And many of them are in English. Beside, the English information are usually faster. The second reason is I love English songs and also movies very much. You know, I can spend hours to write lyrics of the songs I like. And I think it's interesting to watch movies without the voice-over. But now, it's still difficult for me to do that with almost movies. So I watch movies with Vietnamese subtitles. But I hope I can do that in the near future.

You might want to start using Firefox because it comes with a very handy spell checker. You also should start to put a space after every sentence. This will make your texts much easier to read and it also looks more professional.

I' d like to improve my english, because it needs to my work. I'm a post-graduate student and the mostly imformation about the sphere of my interest is contained in articles in english. But the medicine english is rather easy than another literature I'd like to read in original version. Besides sometimes I should visit an international forums and sessions and listen a lot of information in english. The second reason - I have some friend aboard and I see my english is worse than them. I've noticed, it's hard to think in english and use it like a mother language when I start to talk. And it takes some time to formulate my thoughts. I'd like to rise up my score and I think, It's possible.
