Why do you want to improve your English? #437 (permalink) Fri Jul 03, 2009 11:58 am   Why do you want to improve your English?

Hello Torsten.
First of all- it is my job -to teach my students English, that's why I want to improve my spoken ,reading, writing and listening skills. There are many situations in our lives when we have to choose smth. important. It was my choice -to float down the river and wait when people say 'what a pity - he deserves better destiny" or stand up and take some steps to fill my life with sense and make myself and do something that make the world a little bit better. I mean that if I help my students learn English - they will be better and the world will be better because we'll find the way to understand each other at last.
Regards.
Yuri.

Why do you want to improve your English? #445 (permalink) Sun Jul 05, 2009 14:17 pm   Why do you want to improve your English?

Hello Torsten and all,
One of the reason I try to improve my English is to communicate with people and use it in my work. It's much easier to to do this when I have a computer nearby. But I have a problem with speaking and writing a letters without computer. Also in my ages (I'm 44) it's difficult to remember a new words and easy to forget them. It will be useful if you can help me to improve my skills and to fined a way to study more effectively.

You may think that is rather strange, but in October i'm going to take part in the students' language competition in our town (and then. I hope, in the region).
So I need to remember a lot of things (like grammar forms, lexic material, etc.) and improve my writing, 'cause I'll should to write a composition on this competition. :)
And in the end of the year I will have an English exam. It is the second reason, why i'd like to improve my English. This exam will seal my fate. I'm afraid a little bit. :)

I don't know if I want to improve my English. I don't want to loose my knowledge in English. If you don't use it you loose it. I am not interested of reading about politics in English or motorbikes for example so I don't know many words in English about these topics.

Hello Maria,

Please bear in mind that there's a difference between "loose" and "lose".
