Warm Regrads, Kana ____________________________________________________________
The reading and the listening are about the first grain food of humanity. The author claims that the first grain-based food was bread. The professor however asserts that it was beer rather than bread, by illustrating an alternative hypothesis regarding the origin of beer.
Firstly, the author states that early people firstly crushed the wheat to make it easIER to eat; and GROUND wheat eventually become the basic element IN making bread. Nevertheless, the professor says that people only HAVE TO keep the wheat in A moist environment and let it naturally soften without any crushING BEING REQUIRED. At this point, she raiseD THE question; ‘Which do you think happened first,’ IN AN ATTEMPT to convince and ENLIST listeners’ AGREEMENT that beer CAME first.
Secondly, the passage asserts that the bread requires no OTHER technology THAN fire to bake, and this is the simplest way to make the grain more favorable to eat, and to extend the storing period. On the other hand, THE professor claims that beer requires nothing, NOT even fire. The effortless process of making beer makeS her statement sound that beer WAS actually the first grain-food humanS ate and undoubtedly castS questionS on THE reading statement.
Finally, the reading indicates that the bread can be lighter in texture and easier to eat DUE TO THE natural PROCESS OF fermentation, BUT only if people leave the paste in THE open air.
///As a matter of fact, the professor states that not only natural fermentation beer can be made by, it also begins to ferment and form the foam as soon as it is stored. This is where the early people can easiest tasted beer. Moreover, she disbelieve that ancient people would think of fire only to make the food better to eat./// (THIS SEGMENT IS VERY BADLY WRITTEN.)
In conclusion, the argument above clearly illustrates that the professor is in a different point of view than the author. She believes that beer was the first grain-based food of human societies rather than bread. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Not bad, but needed to be better written.
