Dear Kitos,
I am still waiting for my score, I think one or two days latter, I will receive it. Now, I still continue practicing. Can you correct this my essay?
Topic: It has been said, "Not all learning takes place in the classroom." Compare and contrast knowledge gained from personal experience with knowledge gained from classroom instruction. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?
During their lives, people learn new knowledge from different sources. They can learn from their own experiences, from others’ mistakes, from books and from schools. Knowledge gained from real life and knowledge gained from school are both very important to each person. However, in my opinion, knowledge that we learn from schools is more important than that from real experience. The following reasons will support my point of view.
First of all, knowledge from schools provides us deeper understanding about a subject than knowledge that we learn in normal life. In normal life, we learn only patchy information about subjects. For example, we can learn how to set up and use a program in our computer from a friend, or how to use ginger and garlic to cure a fever. Although they are very important, they do not provide us a thorough understanding about a specific subject. On the contrary, in schools, we can learn how computers operate or how to design a computer program. In medical subjects we can learn the mechanism that substances affect human body. From this, we understand why some herbals can help us cure a specific disease, or maybe we can concoct new methods to cure diseases.
Secondly, we can learn advanced knowledge in schools, but not in our normal experiences. To become an expert in computer technology, for example, a person has to major in computer science in a university. While, this person studies in this university, he or she will have chance to learn the most advanced technology such as Bluetooth technology, wireless technology and so on. After finishing studying, this person will become an expert in his or her field. In contrast, we can only learn some simple tricks in normal days, for example how to cook a particular type of food or what we should take with us when travelling abroad.
In conclusion, although knowledge that we learn from our experiences is helpful to us, the ones we learn from schools are far more important. This is because they provides us a deeper understanding about a subject and it is really advanced. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Excellent work Tri. I'm confident that you will have done well in your exam.
