My Town now and at some point in the past.
Baku is a capital of one of the most ancient countries that lies between East and West. Comparing its condition with, for example, 10 years ago and today, nowadays it has become a very modern one. But it still has a signs that shows its old history. In one side it has a lot of renewed parks, monuments, fountains, bridges, shopping centers and in other side it carefully saved its characteristic old planned construction. It stands in one line with the most famous and expensive cities like Sao Paulo, Stockholm and Manhattan. Here come a lot of tourists that keep coming back every year.
It is a city of a business too. There are a lot of foreign companies which venture here. Also it has a lot of places for entertainment. Having a lot of theaters, museums, exhibits, cinemas, concert halls that is always full of visitors, it keeps its name as a centre of culture and its culturally developed citizens.
Comparing Baku of 90s and Baku of the 2010 it had raised in its position a lot. We have less political problems, leastwise not those we had then. Our city became cleaner and has chosen more peaceful way of living. With small but sure steps we keep restoring and climbing up providing everyone with safe live.
This new, lively city is pleasing to the eye of those who haven’t been at the motherland for decades. New modern buildings, rebuilt and refreshed city centre Torgovaya and boulevard. It last 17 years from the day that Azerbaijan once again led by our national leader Heydar Aliyev. During these years our city has changed beyond recognition of the whole country. There is a very big construction boom here now. Needless to say, that it sometimes surprises us who lives here too: in the morning while leaving the house, there is no longer an old wreck opposite. In a few more months, you see, in its place is another skyscraper. By the way, they have also become more attractive. And all this - our Baku, that represents Azerbaijan today.
