Hi, Is there a rule which dictates that the words 'has' and 'been' should never be separated, like there is against splitting infinitives? So, for example, when asking the question, "Has Jack been to the park today?" it should indeed be "Has been Jack to the park today?" even though it sounds unorthodox? If not could you please look at this website and tell me the answer to question 8 as it seems to suggest it they should. http://www.englishworksheets.net/use-the-appropriate-forms-of-be-or-have-worksheet02.asp

I wouldn't pay much attention to a website where the word 'grammar' is spelled incorrectly in the heading if I were you!

'What was your friend doing last night?' would be the correct answer to that.
'What had been your.. is completely crackers.
