Travelling is one the most entertaining things that you can do. Nobody denies that spending your time in a European country like Italy or Spain is very interesting. Some people prefer to travel alone, while others prefer to travel in a group led by a tourist guide. There are a lot of advantages for each type of travelling.
On one hand, travelling in a group led by a tourist guide has many advantages. First of all, when you travel in groups; you will enjoy the companionship. Groups usually consist of around 20 people, these people stay together all the time, and most likely you will find someone that you like to talk to. Furthermore, travelling in groups is much easier and comfortable since everything is already pre-arranged for you. Hence, you wouldn’t spend time on booking a flight ticket or finding a hotel. Not to mention that when you travel with a tourist guide; you learn more information about the places that you go to.
On the other hand, though there are strong advantages of travelling in groups led by a tourist guide, there some even more compelling advantages of travelling alone. Firstly, travelling alone gives you the space and the time that you need in which you wouldn’t have to be worried that you are delaying the group, and you don’t have to stick to the group’s schedule. Moreover, you get the chance to try different things by yourself; you can go wherever you want and you wouldn’t have to be forced to go to a specific place. Not to mention that you could meet new people every day whether they are local residents or other solo-travelers, and you could even stay with them as much as you want.
To put it all in a nutshell, needless to say, each type of travelling has its own advantages and disadvantages. As for me, I deem that travelling alone is better due to the fact that you can go anywhere and meet new people every day, it also gives you the space and freedom that you need.
Thanks in advance Mr. Kitos :)

Thanks a lot Mr. Kitos :) You do know that they give you better marks for complex vocabulary and sentence structure., don't you? ( of course you do ) |

@MoeAziz: I don't think it's the case Moe. I think the way you use your vocabulary and structure that matters. They score you on how effective you use the language rather than how complex your essay is. The purpose to write is to express your idea to the reader, it would be useless if you could use tones of academic words and complicated structures yet it prevents you from explaining your thoughts. I believe Kitos is right on saying that 'keep it simple...keep it interesting'. Use whatever you like but be sure to state your opinions clearly :D _________________ Hope for the best, be prepared for the worst! |

Thanks a lot Gianglp, I'm really taking your advices into consideration. I'm a little bit afraid, and disappointed at the same I'm afraid: because my exam is after 2 weeks, disappointed because I am supposed to have a vacation now, but I'm spending my time studying English instead, And it was a really difficult semester that I couldn't enjoy my time at all, then I bumbed into the toefl exam. Anyhow Having a really great mark on my TOEFL exam would be such an amazing thing after all. |

You will note Moe that Gianglp received 29/30 in the writing segment of the exam. Whether it was written using complex grammar or not, I'm not in a position to say, but the point is ... the reader must understand exactly what you are saying. If you say it simply, then there cannot possibly be any misunderstanding. If you can say it in an interesting manner whilst still maintaining the simplicity, so much the better. _________________ Keep it simple ... Keep it interesting. |
