what is the difference between community and society?

i am an international trade worker in china, and i am planning promote our business on a trade platform, this platform named hardware industry community.

I did not know the word, community, after i checked it by e-dictionary, it means as same as society in chinese language. later, i checked it in sentence, i tried to find out what is the different, but unfortunaty, the example sentences and chinese explanations made me fall to more confused.

A community is a local or regional group. A society usually refers to the whole cultural body of a state. If you are speaking of the 'hardware industry', you need to add nothing to that, since 'industry' is equivalent to 'society' or 'community' in business language.

may i know what is the meaning of " since" in your sentence.

Is it as same as " because " in your sentence?
