Do you believe that societies ought to enforce capital punishment or are there alternative forms of punishment that would be better used?

The problem with capital punishment has become very disputable and controversial. At the same time, it is important to outline that this issue needs a comprehensive and apolitical position. This question usually includes many pole opinions and statements such as the policy of the Council of Europe, religious beliefs of many people, and the capability of other kind of punishment to replace the role of capital punishment.
It is not a secret that the discussion about capital punishment will be always on the agenda of all European countries. In fact, the main role in this area is played by the Council of Europe, and almost all countries of Europe are members of this organisation. It means that the European countries are not eligible to use this kind of punishment against their citizens. In many cases, this legal aspect usually limits the latitude of the discussion, which is connected, with the gist of capital punishment. However, the majority of specialists in law find these rules very sensible because they are based on the gist of law and the most important doctrines of the European Law.
At the same time, many people think that the government is not eligible to decide when capital punishment is appropriate because it is the matter of God. For pious people capital punishment is not acceptable because it contradicts to the main ideas of their religion. It is important to outline that it is not sensible to recant or ignore these principles because the opinion of pious people is admirable and other people should be respectful to their beliefs.
During the history of mankind there have been introduced many different punishments and capital punishment is not the most effective and unique. It is the irrefutable fact that sometimes the decisions of the court can be wrong and it always creates a danger that the state can sentence innocent person. In this case, we will not be able to help this person. Moreover, many scientific researches suggest that in countries where capital punishment is widespread the situation with crimes is not better than in many European countries. For example, the USA is the country with one of the biggest number of prisoners.
In conclusion, I want to emphasise some important points of the present discussion. First of all the idea of using capital punishment contradicts to main principals of the spirit of the European Law and this initiative can hurt pious people. Moreover, there is a very significant argument that capital punishment is not more effective than ordinary kinds of punishments. Finally, I want to make a remark that the abolition of capital punishment is the appeal to humanity and this is the reason why society should not diminish this event.
