Which do you prefer: staying in one place or moving in search of another place? #1 (permalink) Sat Dec 25, 2010 16:32 pm   Which do you prefer: staying in one place or moving in search of another place?

Some people spend their entire lives in one place. Others move a number of times throughout their lives, looking for a better job, house, community or even climate. Which do you prefer: staying in one place or moving in search of another place? Use reasons and specific examples to support you opinion.

Some people like the elderly want to spend their lives in one place, in their country. Others like me – the younger - want to live in a variety of places because I am interested in learning various cultures such as food, history, people and especially cold weather and snow.

Even if I moved to another country, I would encounter new people, new culture, especially new language. Each country has a different characteristic. Each person has a distinct personality. With my young enthusiasm, I will integrate quickly and try to adapt myself to new environment. Learning about history and cultures of the country I live, tasting some traditional foods might be good experience for me. I am sure that I will have a various kind of knowledge from these and I can become part of the new community.

If I want to experience a different kind of climate – especially snow, I would have to move far from my city. My hometown, which is in the middle of Vietnam, is the same temperature. In the winter, the lowest temperature is fifteen degree centigrade. For me – an Asian girl, it is really cold but it is not enough to have snow. I really want to experience cold weather and snow. Furthermore, I also like to learn some winter sports such as skiing.

My country – Vietnam remains a poor country and unemployment is still increasing. Thus, to find a good job is really hard. Therefore, I want to move to another city or country to look for a better job. Now, I am still in university but I will learn a master degree in a developed country such as the USA, Australia or Japan because the degree of university is very popular nowadays. After that, I am confident to get a good job in my country.

I want to have variety in my life. I like to learn many things from many countries. I also like to know different kinds of people and see new places. Not only do I like to have the opportunity to study in many countries but I also like to work in many places. It might be an experience for me and I really want to do this while I am still young and I still have a chance to do this.
