In this day and age, we are living in an age when “jungle law” prevails. To some extent, competition means opportunity. However, competition by no means guarantees a satisfactory job. Generally, every job seeker expectS TO EARN a handsome salary, but when a job is with more vacation time versus another job with high salary but less vacation time, it will be a hard choice to make for many people. People make a choice according to their own situations. From my perspective, it is a question with different answerS in different periodS of life.
To start with, a job with adequate vacation time is appealing. For one thing, it is said that life needs relaxation and recreation. If I have to work day AND night, I do not think I can hold on for a very long time and I will definitely end up in a sickroom in hospital. For another, people need time for their family. For instance, I am a family girl and I love the family tradition of going traveling to other cities or countries every year, which really enhanceS my relationship with families and friends, and makes me feel released and stronger. Few things can be more valuable than the time that we spend with OUR families, chatting, laughing, planning something most important for the whole family, and so forth. Therefore, a job with more vacation time is a better choice when we have already worked for some time and had some savings for a relatively easy life.
However, for some people, especially young people, who are just starting their own career and chasing for their dreams, leisure time should not be counted as a factor that influences their choice of job, while money or other factors, such as the possibility of promotion, should come first. As we can imagine, if a student who just graduated from college works for sufficient vacation time but small salary, whether his money is able to support his vacation is the first question open to doubt. Moreover, people are relatively more enthusiastic about their career when they are young, because they are more optimistic, creative, and passionate, which is best for a career starter and will gradually and eventually fade away in lateR years. In this sense, young people should hold fast to their dreams and do better work for better money rather than merely dream for vacation time.
To sum up, due to what has been mentioned above, we cannot safely reach the conclusion that a job with more vacation time is better or worse than a job with high salary but less leisure. We should do our career planning soundly and adjust choices of job along with our age and experience. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: A very sound essay Lunzhang. Well done.
