Teacher should teach students moral subjects or academic subjects? (Discuss) #1 (permalink) Sun Dec 26, 2010 19:01 pm   Teacher should teach students moral subjects or academic subjects? (Discuss)

Most people think that teachers should teach students how to judge right and wrong and how to behave well. Some feel that people should just teach students academic subject. Discuss

Some people think that teaching students moral lessons at school is necessary to provide them a comprehensive education, while others argue that teachers should concentrate on teaching students academic lessons. Each opinion has its own merits.
People in support of moral lessons at school claim that these lesson can help students distinguish what is wrong or right and behave righteously. So young and naive are students that they can not recognise right behaviours, and sometime imitate ugly words or behaviours from their peers or parents. Besides, thanks to moral lessons at school, students will become good citizens and law-based society can develop. However, is it true in any circumstances? Facts have shown that those who only equipped moral lesson are lack of necessary skills and knowledge, even become useless and isolated in morden life.
When it comes to the latter opinion, it is undeniable that thanks to academic subjects, many students can pursuit higher education, cultivate vital knowledge and skills which helps them alot in their works. Moreover, with these academic lessons at early ages, students contribute more to the growth of their nations and the development of the world in general. Meanwhile, opponents argue that only by lack of moral lessons do many people employ academic knowledge to some purposes which go back law and moral norms. Can we put our belief on business men whose abundant knowledge and experiences, but ready to cheat out of profit?
All in all, both moral lessons and academic lessons play an important role in comprehensive education. Combination of these two lessons is neccessary for students to become useful citizens in the future and contribute more and more to the development of society.
