Listen and hear #46 (permalink) Tue Nov 10, 2009 19:13 pm   Listen and hear

Hi, Torsten,

Thank you for sending me the English lesson number 9.
It is very good your explanation about the difference between "to listen" and "to hear".
Also, if you don't mind and if I may, I dare to ask you your email address. I write sometimes on the forum and I read it too. But I recognise I have not much time for this.
Also I don't know very well to use the forum.
I am waiting for English lesson 10.
Thank you,
Ileana Mihaela

Dear Torsten,

I have just received your letter. In the first place I say a big thank you for it. But I would ask you something what is important to me. Please, listen to me. You have several times written in your letters: " When are you going to log on the Forum?" I let you know I joined the Forum on 26 th November 2009. I sent till now 41 posts. I always waited for your answer, corrections but in vain. What should I do that my present on the Forum attracts your attention? I am looking forward to this moment. This evening I sent this letter to the address www.english-test-net also but I think this address doesn't work because immediately I received an inadequate answer.

I hope you understand me and you won't be annoyed with me.

Thank you your lessons and the nice tone of these letters.
Best regards:

I just finished "Listen vs. Hear" test, and I scored 8 out of 10 at the first try.
Feel proud of myself.

Helo, I am Cristina.
I consider your lessons very well structured and I must recognize I have never understood the difference between hear and listen.
Finally, I may assert I have noticed the difference in meaning.
Thank you very much for your help.

Hi teacher.
Please correct, if i have a mistake.
The people do not listen to the president, he talks something on the stage, because he talks so much. The people's sound and the music's sound in the party, we can't hear well from him.
Best regards.

hi Teachers,
I am still confused.
hearing is an activity on which we can not control and it naturally comes in our ears.
and
Listening is an activity on which we can control that we have to listen or not.

Is this right?

Thanks
Deepak
