What historical event in your country has had a major effect on your country?

Important events affect the future of countries and every country has its important historical events which changed the future of that country .These events become historical and anniversary depending on its importance .My country ,for instance, Syria, has the battle of Mysloon 1946 between the French army and the national Syrian army at the border of Damascus city as the most affecting event ever to happen in the modern life for two reasons:

The First reason to Why the Battle of Mysloon is the most affecting event in Syria in modern life is that it told the French army at that time that they cannot occupy Damascus without shedding our blood, we are a free nation and we decide our destiny . There was no equivalence between the two Armies, the French army and the Syrian. The French army had the most up- to -date complicated weapons and a lot number of soldiers compared to the Syrian Army which had traditional weapons of the time and a small number of soldiers. Our soldiers had already known that they will lose the battle before it began, however they fought until all the Syrian soldiers were killed in that battle never they gave up . This battle told the French at that time that we are a free nation and you, the French, cannot enter as if you are in a promenade you have to fight us first and kill us and only then you can occupy our land.

The second reason for the importance of Mysloon Battle for Syria ,my country, is that this Battle passes a message for the coming generations that they have to protect their country whatever the price will be .Every soldier had known that this battle will be lost and will lose his life but fought ,and every Syrian soldier had known that his weapons could not resist the French weapons ;however, they hold it until the last drop of their blood .This heroic battle have given the most permanent lesson for the Syrian people ;they have to protect their country however weak we are , whatever weapons we have and whatever the price will be .The coming generations will always remember this battle as a symbol to defy what threats their country .

In conclusion ,Mysloon battle is the most important event affecting my country in modern life for two reasons It prevented the French to enter Damascus with peace and told them that we are a free nation you have to fight us first. Also it passed a message for the coming generation that you have to fight what threats your country whatever the price will be
