Ambition, in its general meaning, often conjures up something negative. However, although I agree that AN ambitious attitude has its own downsideS, I strongly believe THAT there ARE undeniable upsideS that ARE worth considering.
In the first place, the limitations of being ambitious cannot be ignored, especially when people behave beyond the allowable boundarIES. In that case, people become over-ambitious, or in other words, too greedy and never satisfied with things they are having ALREADY HAVE. at the present. Examples can be found all around us. That is when colleagues willingly do put-up jobs for promotion in THE workplace. To achieve their goals, many workers purposely use cunning ploys, regardless OF all moral values, like speaking ill of their co-workers, or secretly ingratiating themselves with their boss for instance. The same holds true for many politicians, who are never content with their power, always strivING for higher positions, even resorting to bribery and corruption.
ThIS minus SIDE of ambition does not mean it is totally bad though. Rather, ambition plays an integral part on the road TO success. This feature is, indeed, a great motivation for everyone to continue improving THEMSELVES rather than being self-satisfied with THEIR accomplishments. In fact, many people have THE inclination TO rest on their laurels, without ATTEMPTING further achievements. These people, sooner or later, will definitely experience a downfall in their improvement. Others, in contrast, having AN ambitious trait deep inside themselves, consider what they have is STILL NOT enough. Ambition makes their wishes become burning desires, encouraging them to painstakingly make greatER efforts to develop their capaABILITIES EVEN MORE.
In a word, in the progress of perfecting one’S self, ambition is undoubtedly essential. Thus, we should be ambitious to perform many other remarkable feats in our lifetime, but in the meantime, never can we allow ourselves to sell our soul to the devil just to fulfil that so-callED ambition.
