Hi Pauline,
Thanks for the question. 'Content' as an adjective with the stress on the second part of the word and suggesting 'pleased' or 'satisfied' often indicates a passing feeling - one that doesn't last a very long time. 'Contented' suggests a more settled or established sense of being pleased or satisfied. You could be content with a result or an outcome where you had expected a worse outcome but you would use 'contented' to describe a way of life/a kind of existence that brought satisfaction over a period of time.
I was quite content with the reply I got from them as they offered to pay back the money I had spent.
They are now retired and have bought a house where they lead a very contented life now by the sea _________________ English as a Second Language You can read my ESL story Present Simple |

Hi, Alan
Thanks for the detailed explanation, do English speakers use the sentense " sb is/are contented easily " very often ? or what is the common expression in the same environment?
Best Regards Pauline |

Hi Pauline,
The expression which I would use to suggest that someone never complains or always accepts what happens to them is 'easily pleased.'
