Hello Ivo,
Sentence 1.1 is OK, but sentence 1.2 is not. However, the second sentence would work if you replaced the word 'jump' with the word 'run':
- The new job kept him on the run all day long. See definition 174a here
OR you could reword it this way, for example:
- The new job kept him hopping all day long.
