please help sort out the clue- name of a photo album! Thanks!

I dun understand the situation here, please kindly help and find out what's the clue.

I named a photo album "2011 BEGINS" (with or without s)?
Then one foreign fds of me, leave me a msg "when did 2011 begin?"

Do I wrongly named my album or he is trying to say sth hilarious?
Kindly let me know

'2011 begins' - with the s is correct. I think your friend is just having a joke. There's nothing wrong.
