Universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students in every subject. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
With more and more people realized the importance of the tertiary education, the issue of how to improve the efficiency of teaching and learning in universities has been received increasing public attention. Meanwhile, it raises questions about whether the existing gender discrimination in some subjects in university should be discarded or not. It is my contention that there are obvious advantages to be had from endowing girls and boys the identical chance to access to a same discipline during their college life.
It could be argued that universities should have the right to determine the proportion of male and female students, which, according to their assumption, would be of the best interest of all students. College students, so this argument goes, are assumed to be distinct in their abilities of learning and doing researches in associated with the difference in their gender. It claims that a female student, for example, who has been allowed to major in a subject that is only suit his male counterparts, can hardly make any achievements in the area of this subject.
However, in my opinion, the most efficient teaching and learning process requires same proportion of male and female students to develop and achieve. For example, a survey conducted by the department of statistic of my school, shows that a tough mathematical question faced by a female learner sometimes would be more easily to be worked out if a proper gender-mixed cooperation could be applied. In other words, for this girl, when the proportion of different gender exhibits evenly in the class, the chance of receiving helps from her male classmates who, probably, are more advanced in analyzing or calculating, is given to her.
To conclude, I firmly believe that the methodology of mixing same number of male and female students in a subject should be encouraged. From my perspective, only when university students, regardless of their gender, or some other characteristics, sharing the equal opportunity and right, to make their own decisions to choose any subjects they like, the most effective teaching and learning could happen in the university campus.
Thank you !!!

Don't knock yourself out over this. Just keep reading and writing. Reading is the very best way to come to terms with English grammar. The more you read the written sentences the more it will make sense to you. _________________ Keep it simple ... Keep it interesting. |
