I very much agree that all students should be required to study art and music in secondary school.
Firstly arts and music both provide a creative outlet for young minds. mainly teenagers. Writing a song, playing an instrument, inventing a craft or releasing your emotions and thoughts by A flourish of strokes on A piece of paper taps one’s creativity. Both music and art not only act as recreational activities, but also provide relaxation and refreshMENT TO tired young brains that are constantly busy calculating and trying to figure out Newton’s theories (throughout) the day.
Arts is not only limited to drawing, painting or creating a craft. It also includes acting. Students can learn acting skills and perform plays. Plays without songs in my opinion are dull, just like life is dull without music. Hence music and arts go together.
Secondly with fast growing media industry music and arts both should BOTH be given highER priority in education. Each country’s definite identity is shown by its music and art reflecting its heritage, culture and customs. For example Western music and eastern music are completely different.
Thirdly during secondary school students start looking out to being part of a group to fit in. Hence both music and art can help them interact and appreciate each other. A simple music band requires a drummer, singer, guitarist, bassist, song writer or etc. Teenagers like to interact and be part of groups with people who share familiar interests. Many current music bands for example "Owl City," my favorite highway, paramour started up as A group of friends IN a high school.
Lastly learning arts and music in secondary school enriches youngsters and helps them identify and flourish their own talents and capabilities. ............................................................................................................................. Good work Katty. Simple and interesting.
