In Viet Nam, English has become more and more popular, and its influences on education have HAS increased as well. According to The Ministry of Education and Training, by 2020, English must be used to teach a number of subjects in all gifted high schools. Although this is not a bad idea, to carry out it, students, teachers and schools are faced with many difficulties that are not easy to find proper solutions to.
In terms of students, learning in English is completely strange to them. English has recently been considered a compulsory subject for a few decades, and up till now there have been many students weak in this subject, left alone having a universal understanding of lessons taught in it. For example, in a gifted high school where required expertise language in gifted subject, how CAN a student with beginner level in English make out what is being said or writTen? If not HE IS UNABLE TO DO SO, he will suffer from lack of knowledge. Even if he can manage to get somehow, it will cost him a huge amount of time. Students are not ready to adapt to a brand new studying method, especially the change in language, which make it likely to cause Adecline in study results.
With Students WILL FIND IT REALLY DIFFICULT to get used to these changeS, is really difficult, but when it comes to teachers, it is even much more arduous. They are only expert in their fields, so it is clear that teaching in foreign languages is new to them. Moreover, at their age, people usually find it hard to adopt something new and strange, like a new language. As a result, teaching material as well as knowledge in English (cannot) be fully understood and transmitted to students. It comes as no surprise that many teachers will find themselves imposible UNABLE to beCOME accustomed to this.
Not only students and teachers, but schools are also faced with many difficulties. RevolutionS in language require a large amount of facilitIES. following. To assist lessons in English, there are a great deal of equipment such as projectors, computers, headphones and recorders, ETC;. IS REQUIRED. UNFORTUNATELY, THERE ARE many schools located in areas that are too poor to support them. Even when all these are fully-equipPED, how about the charge (?) for English improvement in students and teachers? The odds are that this will cause studying and teaching quality to decrease.
Although it is difficult to carry out, the idea of using English to teach a number of subjects DOES have its own benefits. We should not abolish this, but find solutions to put this into practice. The first thing we need to do is establish AN education system includING English right in primary school, trying our best to make it a common language in everyday life. We must also enhance economic development to provide schools with necessary equipment. Nothing is impossible when we set our heart on doing it.
In conclusion, applying English in OUR education system brings us many problems, to sTudents AND teachers, as well as schools, but there are still some solutions to deal with it. Having overcome all these problems, we will find ourselves standing in a higher position. ............................................................................................................................. A good effort A. Avoid asking questions in your text. This is supposed to be your opinion.

Sadly, Vietnam has a very very long way to go... At my school, teachers are often embarrassed when pronouncing an English word wrongly when using laptop in front of the whole class. The point is this repeats over and over. They seem not eager to learn anything new. Don't blame their age. Our Teacher Kitos, at the age of 70, joined this forum to enhance his skills to teach his children..We have Mrs. Kati Svaby too. So why don't our teachers have that attitude? Especially those who are merely subject teachers. I know for sure some have much leisure time... What about the young teacher? They don't neither. Such a disappointment!!! There is only ONE teacher I know, she is IT teacher, she teaches us with such a confidence, and although she doesn't teach us English, we know how good her English is. And of course, she wins our total ADMIRATION and RESPECT
As for students, one of my classmate doesn't know who is NAPOLEON!!!!!!! Unbelievable!!!!!! All they know is their major alone. Background knowledge is what they desperately lack of, let alone a foreign language. Math classes, I have never seen they have a single break throughout three years studying here. Math, math, math... Students at gifted schools only have talents for their main subject only...
Sorry I am just interested in this topic and want to say something.... _________________ I'll be back. I'll miss you guys so much... See you soon... |
