Which sentence is correct? #1 (permalink) Mon Jan 10, 2011 3:43 am   Which sentence is correct?

Hi,
Please help me define which sentence is correct and why:
1-A report about activities "is done" in the library.
2-A report about activities "done" in the library.
3-A report about activities "have been done" in the library.
Consider that am talking about the PAST. And that's all.
Merce beacoup,
Rozanna

Dependent upon your exact meaning, which is not obvious from the information given, probably this:
A report about activities which have been done in the library.

Do you mean that the activities were in the library or that the report is now in the library?

Which sentence is correct? #6 (permalink) Mon Jan 10, 2011 20:44 pm   Which sentence is correct?

No, the activities were in the library and I did a report about it telling what they are.
But Forget about the report
I just want to know if it's possible to say,"those activities is done in the library" or not . Am talking about
"Is done" rather than "have been done" . I hope you can get it. Thank you anyways

No, you cannot say that.

A report about the activities was done in the library.
or
A report about the activities has been done in the library.

Which sentence is correct? #9 (permalink) Mon Jan 10, 2011 21:44 pm   Which sentence is correct?

Well it wasn't clear to me, I'm afraid Rozanna.

If you are going to add 'which' to indicate that the activities were in the library, then you need one of these:

A report about activities which were done in the library.
A report about activities which have been done in the library.

If you wish to indicate that the activities are taking place (even though the report has now been done in the past) then you can also use:
A report about activities which are being done in the library.
A report about activities which are done in the library.

The sentences in my last post apply if the report was also done in the libary.
Sorry if I caused confusion by misunderstanding.

A report about activities which are done in the library. <-- Here you are talking about activities which currently take place (and also took place when you wrote the report).
A report about activities which were done in the library. <-- Here you are talking about activities which took place in the library in the past and which may possibly no longer take place there.

I think this question was sort of bypassed. If you do not have to include the report in the sentence there is less chance for confusion. So in that case you can say for instance:

"Activities done in the library include reading and studying" - activities in general

or

"Activities I have done in the library include reading and studying" - activities I have personally done in the past and may continue to do
