Hello everyone,

Is it OK to change some words in the following sentences for the words in brackets:

It's not easy to hand over (to give) things and money, but it's essential. (change for fork over)
The old woman was a person everyone in the neighborhood disliked. There were not too many mourners when she died. (change for kicked the bucket)
Yes, I agree, we have got a difficult task. But I think it's high time to try very hard and show what we can do. (change for bend over backwards)

It's not easy to fork out things and money...
'kicked the bucket' is somewhat irreverent, but works there, particularly as she was disliked.
...I think it's high time to bend over backwards to show what we can do.
