Even though globalization affects the world's economies in a positive way, #1 (permalink) Mon Jan 17, 2011 16:00 pm   Even though globalization affects the world's economies in a positive way,

Subject: Even though globalization affects the world's economies in a positive way, its negative side should not be forgotten. Discuss.

Globalization is a process of integrating all countries around the world. It allows currency flow, migrations and extremely rapid development of huge corporations. This phenomenon affected world's economies in a very positive way but we can not forget about its drawbacks. In this essay I would like to discuss some of them.

To begin with, third world countries might feel left behind in this constantly moving and growing machine called globalization. They do not have sufficient capital to invest, therefore they are not involved in international trade. Poor countries' inhabitants are still treated as cheap workforce to run the business instead of being equal partners.
Second, when multi-billion dollar corporations take over international trade, small local businesses struggle to survive. Customers seem to believe that large companies provide them with wider choice and better quality. Globalization highlights the role of competition in a modern society which is not always economically beneficial for both sides.
Lastly, globalization opens political boundaries and allows people to migrate across the globe in order to find new employment. Emigrants contribute to filling unemployment gap but on the other hand they understate hourly rate in the countries they have settled down. Immigrants from poor countries are known as highly efficient workers who are satisfied with minimal awards. This is a serious issue which argue foreign countries instead of putting them together.

To conclude, globalization, although perceived as positive phenomenon when it comes to world's economy, has also its negative features. Everything is in each country government's hands to make our world one happy global village.

I'm preparing for IELTS test, can you please give me a feedback about my essay? What score would I get?

Many thanks,

Beefik :)
