"People should not be misled by the advertising competition between Coldex and Cold-Away, both popular over-the-counter cold medications that anyone can purchase without a doctor's prescription. Each brand is accusing the other of causing some well-known, unwanted side effect: Coldex is known to contribute to existing high blood pressure and Cold-Away is known to cause drowsiness. But the choice should be clear for most health-conscious people: Cold-Away has been on the market for much longer and is used by more hospitals than is Coldex. Clearly, Cold-Away is more effective."

The above topic states that the health conscious people should choose cold-away to coldex as it is more effective and is also been used by more hospitals.It also suggests that since Cold-Away has been in market for much longer time it is more referable than coldex.Though the topic gives few reasons and comparisions, it has flaws in several aspects which questions its credibility.

At first,The topic states that people should not be misled by the advertising competition between coldex and coldaway and further states that these two medicines are equally popular.This statement is not supported by any kind of figures or survey or a quote from any standard study.So,it is assumed that both are equally popular and are taken by a large ratio of people.

Further,The topic states that both the drugs accuse each other about some of their unwanted side-effects.In support of this an example is given that coldex contributes to existing high blood pressure and coldaway causes drowsiness.It is still unclear as the topic does not mention anything about the effect of these drugs on different age groups and also to what extent.For example what is the effect of coldex on a person who has a normal blood pressure.Is it completely safe or does it effect in any other way on long term use?Also,about cold-away,how far is it safe to be used on children,is not discussed.

Another flaw is that,according to the topic all health conscious people should go with cold-Away as it has been on the market for much longer and is used by more hospitals than is Coldex.Long time existence of any drug does not justify that it is the safest drug.More over though coldex is introuduced later it has been stated in the earlier lines that it is equally popular.So the topic is contradicting itself at this point.Further,it states that most of Hospitals use cold-Away than coldex.No supporting facts or figures are given in this case too,like number of hospitals choosing coldaway againsnt coldex,if so for which age group and for what symptoms are they suggesting it.Even if it is assumed that many hospitals suggest cold away,it cant be said that cold away is safe for all health conscious people because every persons health record differs from anothers and hence cannot be generalised.

So,According to me the topic has to be supported by more reasonable data and survey figures in order to suggest people to choose cold away over coldex.
