Hi All,
I'm new to this forum and today is my first day. I found this thread very interesting as I'm really looking forward to improve my writing and speaking skills. I'm a keen learner and always try new methods to learn English language. When I was in school my father used to tell me to read newspapers loudly in front of a mirror, he said it will bring confidence and clear my speech and trust me this method really helped me a lot. I've improved my reading and pronunciation skills very much. Nowadays, I watch english movies (preferably with english subtitles), I listen to english music (soft music), I've worked for Call centers specially for UK processes. Still, I beleive I have a long way to go and this learning process will never come to an end.
Looking forward for your feedback members.

Hi Cesar,
Thanks a lot for your questions. Please note that the noun 'advice' is uncountable. This means the word 'advices' does not exist. Also, please read this: What does SHOUTING mean?
As your progress report page shows you have already started completing our listening comprehension exercises and I suggest you keep it up until you have answered all the questions.

Hi Fahad,
Thanks a for joining our forum and sharing your experiences with us. Your English looks very good indeed and there only a few things I'd like to point out: - 'look forward to' is always followed by a gerund (You sentence should 'I look forward to improving my writing skills...
- Please remember to capitalize the word 'English'. - Note the spelling of 'believe'. (You might also want to start using a spell checker.) - Please check the difference between 'loudly' and 'aloud'.
I look forward to you hearing your first voice message. Best regards, Torsten _________________ Test Of English for International Communication TOEIC Preparation & TOEIC Vocabulary |

Hiya!
I think the best way to learn English is to read books. I am reading a new novel now and I realice that I learn many new words and expressions each day. Also watching films on TV or cinema and documentaries and listening radio. Besides, there are many links about English language and you can practice with them doing all type of exercises.
Regards to everybody

Hi Greetings and Good afternoon.
Well for me, these are the ways I learn English: 1. For vocabulary, I would copy those difficult words into an exercise book, then I will look out for the meaning from a dictionary or an online dictionary. 2. Practice reading out loud whenever articles you can grab hold of either from newspapers or magazines. 3. I always believe that practice makes perfect, trying out grammar questions either online or from books. 4. Try your very best to speak English whenever opportunity you have, eventhough broken but I think this is a way to improve and correct your mistakes. Keep your mouth shut will only lead you to square one. 5. Watching English movie first with English subtitle and listen carefully with the pronounciation, then watch again the movie without the subtitle and see how much you can understand what the actors are talking about.
For me they really help alot in improving my English in reading, speaking, listening, writing and understanding.

Hey all! for me it was very hard to learn english whilst i was still living in Germany. I didn't like my teacher at school a lot. And if i wanted to watch a dvd in english i had to watch it by myself because non of my friends were interested in it. So would end up learning for two days and quickly lose interest for the next two weeks or sometimes months until i tried it again. Than i decided to go for a trip to Australia and to work and travel there on a working holiday visa for one year. It was really hard at the beginning, not just because my english was very poor but also because of the way australians talk. They love to shorten words like "barbie" for barbeque, "sanga" for sandwich, or "footy" for the australian rules football. And the many Irish people i met on my way around the continent where probably even harder to understand. At the beginning i met a lot of German travelers, and so i ended up talking a lot of german again which made it really hard to improve my still really poor english. The biggest improvement i made was when i moved into a sharehouse in Melbourne and lived there with people from all over the world(no germans:), and the only language we could communicate with each other in was english. After just six months without having visited any english class i was able to speak english almost fluently. And just before i was going to leave, i fell in love with an australian girl who is now my wife:) Since then, english is not so much of an issue anymore as we speak english all day long:)
So my advice for english learners, find yourself an english speaking partner:) Or at least have people surround you that give you the chance to speak english as often as you can.

Hello Torsten! As usual I'm very glad about your lessons! Well I think there was a lot of asked about how to learn English so don't ''judge'' me if I repeat someones suggestion. Well I think one of the best way to learn any foreign language is a motivation, because without motivation you just don't have any success, another way is self-confidences because without self-confidence you just wost your time, and the other probably most important thing when you learning foreign especially English you just need don't fear about your mistakes because without mistakes nobody can't have success.
