Hi Torsten
Totally I agree your method of studying and everyone one has their own way of learning, but if I add my opinion as you said read a Newspapers, novels and listen radio four, etc that will be good advice. However my problem is I don’t read Avery day but I do listen most of my time, even though reading will be good beneficial. According what the people are said ‘the more you read are the more you write’. From now I will promise myself I will follow your advice and I will be in a 30 days challenge from tomorrow.
Thank you,
From Sahra |

Hi everyone, Sometimes I read books, sometimes I write e-mails in English, I repeat grammar and do exercises on Raymond Murphy grammar books, recentrly I passed English preparation for the Toefl course. Rarely I watch films in Engliush or watch news on BBC and CNN. I work in tourism and speak with tour operators by mail and by ICQ etc. |

For me, the best way to learn English is through conversation. There times when i find lost of difficulties to memorize vocabularies. Are there any best ideas to learn English? I do need some vocabularies to improve my English. |

Hi Sousa,
You can only learn English if you listen to a lot of English. So the question is how much time do you spend listening to English conversations, reports, audio books, stories, etc. every single day? If you find it difficult to memorize new vocabulary (not 'vocabularies'), you need to increase the amount of 'English audio input' (the amount of time you spend on listening to English'. That's pretty much the only way you can learn new vocabulary. _________________ Test Of English for International Communication TOEIC Preparation & TOEIC Vocabulary |

Hi, Mr Torsten: Your topic is a common subject under discussion in many conversations between people who want to learn english. Do you think english is difficult? I've been learning english since i was in class 6 and now i'm a second year student majoring in english but my ability to speak english is so limited. Sometimes i feel disappointed, but the cause lies in my way of learning english-too much attention to grammar and theory but little practice. So, I think to learn english as well as other languages best is to practise it as much as possible. People say learing language requires patience, so this is true if someone know how to bring it to life. I think it's lucky for those who live a country using english as a second langauge. However many people in my country are successful in learning english, perhaps they are really keen on english and have a good way of self-study. In my opinion, learing english through newspapers, televion or radio can help english-learners improve their pronunciation and vocabulary faster. Have a good weekend! Tuyet |

Hello, Alan! My name is Marina. I am your student from Ukraine and I am greatly appreciate your email English course.
Regarding to your question, for me the best way to improve my vocabulary and reading skills is to read books in English. Now I am reading the book "Sister Carrie" by Theodor Dreiser. It is very interesting and practical but helpless for my writing skills. So I will try to write more on the forum.
See you soon Marina
P.S. Please check if I have made mistakes in the message. |

| HI! I use ABBY LINGVO program when I discover internet space. It's very simple for me, because when I see new word, I just click on it and ABBY give me many variants of translation and definition of this word. Some people recomendated to read scientist sites because there are a lot of new inetersting information and new words. |

Hi Torsten, Hi everybody
I have come back to website www.english-test.net and see you again. Many people as me usually make the question that how to learn English with best effect. I would like to tell you some ways which i have applied to study. First, I often spend more than 1 hour per day to listen English: Early, I get up and listen a little information on TV with Asian Channel about 10 minutes, then I go to work; after have a lunch, I also try to listen something in BBC radio about 30 minutes; and finally, I watch TV a few minutes before go to bed. It's an important that you have a happy or fun to study English and it becomes easier to you. Second, I take part in the other course to practice different skill: reading, public speaking, writing, ... They will be supported together, and I will find the answer for some questions which I can't understand before. Third, any free time, I try to read more and more from English Book, news and other information such as health, animal, technique material .... which i like to read. It helps me improve knowledge, learn skills in my life, update news in around the world and study new words. The result is that i feel more confident in English than last year a lot. Hope you can study it better than I do.
Best regards Huu Hanh |
