Hi
To my opinion the best way to learn English is to use all the oppertunities to speak in this language and to watch films with subtitles. And also a very important point, always look through our passed lessons. :) :) :)

Hi Torsten
It's a good title of "How to learn English?" which i have tried to learn it long time. But right now still not good, especially pronunciation, hearing and English grammar. Currently, I play English in e-mail for the most due to I'm working for the international company. But the foreign people need to learn the local language, so normally we communicate in Thai language. Now I look forward to chat with someone to share the experience and improve my English ability.

Note : Unfortunately, Nowadays the job in my responsibility so busy...........

Hello Torsten,
I want to let you know that my way of learning isn't unique. It is very slow and simple. When I start learning things I usually go research as read the news paper, read all the post from the forum and watching/listening news everyday. I watch at least one episode from any English sitcom every day. It helps me to get new ideas, fashion, environment and off course as well as Idioms and Phrases. Personally, I enjoyed a lot TV programs. After that, I remember all the things didn't understand and look them up. This is my habit If I don't understand any thing I ask immediately with out hesitation .I write every thing down and then go over them until I know it .So I can say I am the person who can concentrate for a long period. However It is effective.

Hi Torsten,

Your idea 30/30 is truly very effective according to my experience. Since, I learned to speak my mother tongue hearing the conversation of my parents. Each and everyones' experience, in this matter, will be the same, I am sure about that. So to speak hearing and listening are indispensable. Without hearing and listening none can succeed in speaking. That is the truth, the one and only truth according to language training.

Hi,
I use some ways to learn and improve my English:
- I'm going to a new English course in my Company. It's good and useful for me.
- I listen to the some audio in English when I'm driving to work and to home everyday. It increase my listening skills. H hope so!
- I practice words with my family (My wife and My daughter) when I'm at home. Also when I'm in office at work, I practice words with my colleges.
- I make a list of new words for myself, and I carry it with myself when I'm going out. So I can review these new words several times. It's helpful for me to memorize them.
- I do a lot of my company work in English. For example I write my letter and official notes in English.
- At the end, I'm a member of good Website for learning and practicing English! and I have many teachers and friends that help me to know more and more!!

It does matter if you constantly use words that don't exist such as 'u' and 'i'.

Hi,

In my opinion, the best way to improve English is to speak with someone who is using it as a main language. But here I can’t follow that method because when I communicate with my close friends, most of us tend to use our mother tongue compared to English. We seldom use English while speaking. For example, I, myself always use English when someone was asked me question in English and when I’m in the office only.
Secondly, I try to improve my English by watching English movies and reading (story books). But here most of the dvd/vcd comes with subtitles. So when there is a subtitle, of course I tend to see the subtitles only rather than listening to the English conversation. And when I read an English book, it’s compulsory to have a dictionary besides me due difficulties I’m facing while I came across the word that I do not even know the meaning.
I want to learn English because I feel I do not much confident while speaking English with others.

Please correct if i have made any grammar errors.
Thank you

If you don't mind, I would like to point out some typing error in your writing. Start with capital letters, U.S.A, Japan and English are also start with capital letters. You should focus on your typing and as well as writing like me. So lets start listen to Radio or TV in English and then write few sentences every day. If you like and have time you can write in the forum.

Thanks
