Hi Torsten,
Iエve just read your advice how to learn English most effectively and I think Iエll tyke up your 30/30 Challenge. Iエll also try to find more time to post something I listened to on this forum, I think itエs a great idea to improve my English skills through listening and then reffering to it. So far, Iエve tried to watch some movies and serials with subtitels in my native language - it has helped me to learn a couple of new expressions, but I often concetrate myself too much on reading subtitels. Therefore, I prefer watching sit-coms which I can understand best. Besides, I like reading books in English. I mostly use a dictionary to look for new words and note them down. In addition I try to think in English, to translate everything in Eglish what Iエm thinking about or sometimes only paging through the dictionary and noting down new interesting words..

Hi Urm,
What situation are you referring to? What do you want to say or write and to whom? As for remembering words, you need to listen to English as much as possible. How much time do you spend on listening to English every day now?

Hi friends I agree with all methods you use, I think everything is possible if you really want get it. according my experience gain confidence is the best step we need, listening, and enjoying lessons too. I try to do exercises everyday, listen audio cassette and repeat all I can. As I can't to practice with someone near me and to know if my pronunciation is right, I search audio exercises in the internet.
Have a nice day |

Hi Torsten.
I learn English by reading grammar books and practicing some grammar exercises. I also tried to learn English by watching original movies but it was quit difficult for me to understand them. So sometimes i watch some serials in my language and then in English, so I know better what they are talking about. I am also going to read some English books. What do you think is the best way of learning English?

Hi Torsten,
Iエve taken up your 30/30 challenge and I think itエs really helping me to improve my English. So far, Iエve been watching some documentaries, which I would recommend to other members too because you can listen to distinctly spoken Englisch and the most important parts are extra emphasized. In addition, I like watching sit-coms whereby I can learn many colloquial expressions. Iエm also revising my vocabulary and can listen to how it is used in the sentences. I think, when I get through all 30 days I will continue without reading subtitels..

Hi Torsten,
I知 Fairy, one of your students and maybe the laziest student you have ever met.('') I知 from Myanmar and I知 still attending in a university. Except the time I知 in my university there is the time of my own. So I have many times to waste.('')I usually spend my time by reading, watching movie, talking and playing game.('')Although I like reading, I致e just only read the books writing in Myanmar even it is a poem or a novel. How stupid was I?('') But now I知 trying to read the short novels that are writing in simple English and Reader痴 Digest. If there are some words that I don稚 familiar with I search them in dictionary and try to remember them. The second way I use is watching English movie. First I off the caption and trying to catch the conversations and then I see that movie as a second time and open the caption to check have I right. The third way is I知 attending in your class, trying to read your replies to some of my classmates. And I知 trying to chatting in English as well. That痴 all. I知 still finding others good ways that can improve my English, and welcome your suggestion.('') |

Dear Torsten Since I'm registered in this website i am more comfortable about my speaking listening English,i think my English has improve a lot,now i know how to use verbs in past tense, simple tense,i mean i recognised how bad has been my English in the past , I am leaving in England for 4 years but because i haven't worked with English people ,my English has been rubbish,I was very happy when I founded your website,I'm taking every lessons of yours and every wednesday I go in school to learn English(2 hours)so far I've done 7 lessons and in middle of this month I've got my first exam,I'm very exiting about it,everyday at least 2-3 hours i watch TV in English,i don't like listening to the radio, and when i am watching TV i make every word they say it comes in writing ,this way has helped me to understand better, when i don't know any word i see in my dictionary, this is my way of learning English, the most fastest learning English for me is communication with people who speak English ,i realised this when i have started school, most of the times when i don't know any thing i ask my husband, he is fluent in English, that's it from me Torsten i would love to improve my English more and more and more, because it's very nice language and because I'm leaving here in England ,i do need to improve my English to find better job,to communicate easily with others,i appreciate what are you doing all of you Torsten,it's very nice of you to help to many people all around the world learning English, finally I wish you the best. I look forward hearing from you. Admira bye bye _________________ To be or not to be ,that is the question. |
