Vacation is the time which every student eagerly awaits for. It is an inseparable part of every education system. Some school authorities provide a series of short breaks while others are convinced with a long vacation throughout the year. I consider a series of short breaks to be more beneficial for students. Such kinds of breaks give many chances to students to nurture their own self.
In the first place, students are benefitted academically due to short breaks. In case of a long vacation, it becomes hard to keep in pace with the subject. Many students forget what they have been taught by their teachers before vacation. They often require to re-memorize the concepts again. This is not the case with short breaks as students remember their subject very well. There is barely any chance of forgetting things.
Secondly, during short breaks, students can engage themselves in a number of interesting and recreational after-school activities. Thus, they keep them busy. For instance, there are many types of hobby classes being offered in cities like dancing, singing, playing musical instruments, yoga classes and personality development courses. Moreover, these extra talents help students when they apply for jobs and they gain more weightage than other candidates.
Thirdly, students can take short trips throughout the year instead of a long trip once a year. Travelling to different places rejuvenates their minds and refreshens them for further learning in school. Furthermore, it kills boredom and distracts them from busy hectic schedule in school. Such students also remain healthy. They can stay back in their homes in case of extreme weathers. It reduces the tendency to become sick because of dehydration in extreme summer and cold in extreme winters.
To sum up, short breaks are more advantageous for students in terms of studies, personality development, health and relaxation. This approach should prevail in all schools.
