Which is correct? #1 (permalink) Sun Jan 23, 2011 10:49 am   Which is correct?

Hello :)

Please help me figure out the correct sentences.

A: He's scant in sense. (isn't of the correct preposition to use?)

B: Your lie is apparent to everyone as well as me. (Shouldn't it be "as well as to me" )

C: Your constraint drives me crazy. (I think the use of constraint is inappropriate. It just doesn't sound right to me but I'm not absolutely sure. Can I say " Your controlling me drives me crazy" instead? ).

D: We don't know where he lives. How can we find out? (It should be "find it out", right?)

E: Nowadays, many companies collaborate on making new technologies. (Isn't it more appropriate to say " are collaborating" and " on inventing"?)

F: The army reinforces their potentials with enlistment every day.

E: Usually, people don't want to get constraint.

Thank you so much for helping me out.

A. It depends on the context, but I would agree hat 'of' is more likely.

b. The 'to' is assumed because you have already used it. Either way is fine.

C. 'Constraint' is correct. I doubt that 'controlling ' is the meaning here, because I would them expect the sentence to read 'Your constraints on me are...'. I think that 'constraint' here refers to that person's constraint of themselves.
constraint = Stiffness of manner and inhibition in a person's relationship with someone else.

D. 'find out' is correct. Does it become clearer in this context? How can we find out where you live? 'find out' is a set phrase.

E. It's all a matter of style and preference.

F. This certainly sounds odd, though it;'s difficult to say for sure without context.

E/G. That should peobably be 'Usually people don't want to feel constrained.
