Experience or experiment? #2 (permalink) Thu Mar 16, 2006 10:38 am   Experience or experiment?

You can carry out (or make) an experiment, which is a (usually scientific) test.

The children carried out a chemistry experiment.

You cannot carry out an experience, which is wisdom gained or something lived through:

His years of experience fitted him for the job.
They have no experience of snow.
