It won't be soon Lurker. I have read many books and articles for more than two years and I never crossed with these words. They don't mean any thing at all. I would like to write a book, but unfortunately I don't know yet what to talk about. Any idea? _________________ Education is a progressive discovery of our own ignorance.

Why not try a Biography of someone you admire and respect?
..maybe you already respect yourself enough to do an Autobiography?
Now that could be when you(or anyone)really start to learn :-) _________________ Any day you wake up on "the right side of the dirt" is a good day. |

Hi Jamie, I just read the article you copied and reposted and there many problems with it. For starters, the article is referring to Chrome OS, which actually is called 'Chromium' while I'm talking about Chrome, which is a browser rather than an operating system. There is a multitude of other logical errors in the article and the most important is this: In a few years netbooks and other smaller devices will be even more powerful than standard PC's today.
There soon will be more people using the Internet through mobile devices than through standard PC's. Also, the article says that everything Google does, Microsoft can do better. That's wrong. Although Bing might have improved slightly over the past few months, it still doesn't anywhere as accurate as Google. Also, Hotmail doesn't match Gmail's capabilities and Android is superior to Windows Mobile.
You might want to take a look at these stats:
It's a question of time until Android will be more popular than Microsoft Mobile.
To return to the subject of this thread, the following numbers speak a very clear language: In January 2010 about 10% of all Internet users were using Chrome. In December 2010 this number had doubled.
The popularity of Chrome is been rising steadily since it's launch and this development will continue: http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp
Where is Microsoft in this list? How many people used Internet Explorer in 2003 and and how many people are using it how? Soon it will be at the bottom so the author of your article clearly has a problem with reading facts.

The main thrust of the article which I agree with is that Google is a search engine and Chrome is a browser but at the end of the day Windows is an OS and it is still the dominant OS and that Chrome(browser) will not become the new IE until its new OS takes over - for sure Chrome is getting more popular but graphs are graphs and other forces will come into play.
If I went to the gym and started a graph of what I was benching and that graph was increasing 10 pounds a week for 6 weeks you wouldn't then say Hey! by 2013 Jamie is gonna be the stronger than an Elephant...
My point is that - it is not quite as simple as the graph suggests - unless it becomes something more profound like a threat to windows too. Like i remember a lot of people saying linux would be.
Everyone said and still say what a great system it is yet how many are using it today.
It is also important to remember Google are wanting people to invest in their next Big thing - so I would check the sources to these predictions carefully. _________________ Any day you wake up on "the right side of the dirt" is a good day. |

Jamie, it's plain to see that the market share of Internet Explorer has dropped from over 80% to about 27%. Would you agree with this or are you saying that the Internet Explorer is still the most widely used browser as it was in 2003?

A couple of posts ago you were saying "I" was going off topic.
The thread is not about what I am saying it is about what you "said" which was .......

Hi, I predict that by the end of 2013 more than 70% of all Internet users worldwide will be using Google Chrome as their primary browser. What do you think? Regards, Torsten |
Well I think it won't be more than 70%...
I do have other opinions but in context of the thread - that is precisely what Im saying. :-)
I would also add if I may that if it does in fact go on to be completely dominant as a browser it will be more to do with the rest of its armory (Facebook You Tube Google etc)and how various future court rulings go - rather than how good a browser it actually is.
Although that I suppose could be argued is neither here nor there. _________________ Any day you wake up on "the right side of the dirt" is a good day. |

Google OS to dominate by 2015 By Jennifer Scott on Jan 18, 2011 9:05 AM Industry analysts predict course of portable computing market for next three years.
Google's 'Lite' Operating Systems (OS), including Android and Chrome OS, will dominate the market in the coming years, according to an industry analyst firm.
Ovum suggested Apple's market share was currently riding high at 90 per cent thanks to the dominance of the iPad and the steady popularity of the iPhone. However, in its report, the analyst predicted it would drop to around 35 per cent by 2015, while Google's market share would increase to 36 per cent. http://www.crn.com.au/News/245093,google-os-to-dominate-by-2015.aspx _________________ Any day you wake up on "the right side of the dirt" is a good day. |

Hi Jamie, when do you think I will be able to buy my first Google Chromium netbook? I mean, a netbook with Chromium as its OS. Really looking forward to that day...
