Hello :)

Which one is correct?

A: I went to the hospital for a check up.

B:I went to hospital for a check up.

C: I have to stay in hospital after my surgery.

D: I have to stay in the hospital after my surgery.

It depends on what brand of English you're using.

If it's BrE, then no article is required.
If it's AmE, then the definite article ("the") is required.

there is usually no A or THE before :
school - college - university - home - work - church - bed - hospital - prison - town

we only say A or THE befor these words when the BUILDING is important

eg :
1/ it was a beautifull church . ( the building is important )
2/do you go to church on sundays ? ( the building isn't important )

1/the school is very old now . (the building is important )
2/ he doesn't like go to school . (the building isn't important )
