Are "rabid" and "ebullient" synonyms ?

I think they are worlds apart.

rabid : Extremely zealous or enthusiastic (link)
ebullient : Zestfully enthusiastic (link)

I don't see 'extreme/fanatical' and 'zestful/enthusiastic' as the same things.
