Hello,

Do the following sentences sound natural to a native speaker's ear? Could you suggest improvements:

1. Price is a primary concern for us, we need to keep the costs down.
2. Staying on schedule is a concern for us so you'd best roll up your sleeves and put your shoulders to the wheel.

The first sounds okay but there are too many idioms in the second, making it sound forced and unnatural.
It sounds like an exercise in idiom usage, rather than part of a standard conversation!

You could thoroughly over-egg the second sentence and add 'and put your nose to the grindstone'!
