If anyone could revise it for me, I will appreciate a lot! Thank you so much!!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: One of the characteristics of successful leaders is the sense of responsibility for accepting their mistakes.
I completely agree that, as a successful leader, one must have the sense of responsibility for accepting mistakes. Accepting mistakes are important for leaders who aim to be successful, because it presents confidence and courage, and often achieves more support from the general public.
Accepting mistakes is a significant issue to a leader, rather than personal matters. Leaders are people who lead others, so their behaviors are often studied as well as imitated by the followers. For example, in elementary schools, some of the top students are chosen as the class leaders, to help the teachers take charge of other students. Sometimes, teachers might treat them more seriously than to ordinary students, because these top guys’ behaviors might have great influence on others. In other word, these young leaders’ small mistakes might become largely spread ones. Therefore, leaders, whether younger or elder, must be responsible for accepting their mistakes.
Accepting mistakes present a leader’s confidence and courage, which are necessary for a successful leader. Mistakes are not always bad things. If one tries to draw some lessons from mistakes, he or she will learn a lot undoubtedly. It is understandable that to those leaders, it seems to be more difficult to accepting their mistakes, perhaps because they are afraid to lose their face or something others. However, a promising leader should not be easily beat by these kinds of fears. A successful leader must have the courage to accept his mistakes, and then makes effort to cope with the following problems confidently.
Furthermore, accepting mistakes help leaders become more popular in the general public, because people prefer to have an honest leader rather than a liar. Nobody is perfect, so everyone has the opportunity to be forgiven after making mistakes, especially to those leaders who stand heavy pressure every moment. Actually, throughout the long history around the world, we may find out that many leaders failed for not accepting their mistakes immediately due to hesitation or variety of excuses. For instance, some politics chose to bury their mistakes in one strategy or one moral miss; however, the truth cannot be covered all the time. Once it has been discovered, perhaps those personal mistakes of leaders might become big scandals, and the leaders would no longer be trusted by the followers.
From what has been discussed above, we can come to the conclusion that accepting mistakes is an essential responsibility of a leader. Although this is not enough in order to be a successful one, people without this sense will never become promising leaders.
